In 1993, Dr. Robert Strong founded SPIFFY with $200,000 given to SPIFFY to manage by the University of Maine Foundation. He then went on to advise the club for over 20 years before retiring and passing his advisor role to Dr. Sebastian Lobe, SPIFFY's current advisor.
