Dr. Sebastian Lobe - Faculty Advisor
Dr. rer. pol. habil. Sebastian Lobe is University Foundation Professor of Investment Education, Associate Professor of Finance and has enjoyed his work at the University of Maine since September 2015. He has served as the academic advisor of SPIFFY (Student Portfolio Investment Fund) since the fall semester of 2016. He earned the 2022 MBS Excellence in Teaching Award by student vote. His teaching areas include Investment Strategy, Investment Management, Socially Responsible Investing, Financial Derivatives and Fixed Income, Financial Engineering, Introduction to the Bloomberg Terminal (Laboratory), and Business Finance at the undergraduate and graduate levels in live and online classes.Â
Dr. Lobe studies asset pricing, socially responsible investments, value investments, innovative financial products, and corporate finance, mainly from an international perspective. He was awarded the best paper at the European Financial Management Association and the Campus for Finance Research Conference. Additionally, he has won the ACATIS Value Prize consecutively over five years for his research on value strategies. He earned his Doctorate in 2004 and Habilitation in Business Administration (German Post-Doctoral Degree) in 2009 from the University of Regensburg, Germany.
